Answers:
1) The two people that are speaking are still unknown to the reader but the different font again introduces these two speakers. But we can infer from the conversation that these speaks are from the military
2) We can infer by the conversation that they are having that the monitor allows these people to study and understand what is happening in Enders life.
3) The soldiers react positively to Enders actions relating him to a famous general when he defeated the buggers. We can infer that Enders actions give him the reputation of being a potential great addition to the military.
4) The soldiers admit that in the process of taking kids and making them into soldiers that they can sometimes turn them into scarred young kids and completely ruin their personality. They admit that when they say “I like the kid, I think we are going to screw him up”
5) When the soldiers text is finished we immediately switch to valentines voice when she is talking to Ender
6) Enders sister’s name is valentine her name implies that out of the three kids she is the most compassionate and is always trying to make good out of every situation the kids get into too she is also always trying to protect ender from peter.
7) Peter has two sides, when his parents and other people are around he is very nice and a sweet young intelligent boy but when he is alone with valentine and Ender he shows his evil side and his unnatural need for violence towards ender.
8) The game Peter and Ender play in the flat is played when the astronauts fight the buggars and only when the astronauts want to stop playing the game is over. Also in this fight the astronaut peter easily defeats Ender the Buggar this infers that in real life the astronauts being people in space will easily defeat the buggars which is a war that everyone is predicting and preparing for.
9) Valentine questions Peter confidence in succeeding in killing both Ender and Valentine by just telling their parents that they were playing a game and didn’t realise it was hurting them that it would be far too obvious to claim that I didn’t know it was hurting them after killing them both.
10) The government tells the Wiggins that they can have three kids this infers to the reader that the government completely controls all the decisions that people make and basically control their lives.
11) At the end of this chapter he feels very vulnerable about not having his monitor this is represented when he peels the band aid off the back of his neck. Also he feels very upset that his parents can now accept him just because the government said so.
